3 Ideas for Staying Active During Quarantine

If you are staying home in quarantine during the current pandemic, you might be feeling a touch of cabin fever. But fear not! Just because you are staying at home to help flatten the curve does not mean you have to give up on staying active while you work towards your health and fitness goals! Here are some ideas for staying active while staying in quarantine.

  1. Play with your pets. If you have a furry friend at home, let them help you! Sure, cats are not usually great at fetch, but a lot of dogs are willing to play and be super active. Plus, you can take your favorite pup out for a walk—just be sure to wear a mask while you get your exercise!

  2. Get creative with your workout. If you are used to heading to the gym and using their equipment for your workout, it is time to start getting creative with items around yourself. The canned goods you stocked up on? Excellent for bicep curls! Walking down the hall? Try doing lunges instead! Work with what’s available to you at home. Will it be the same as going to the gym? No, probably not, but you can still get a good workout while safely quarantining.

  3. Try online classes. Due to the need for quarantining, a lot of places are offering online classes in lieu of in-person classes. Check out your local gym’s website to see if they offer something that appeals to you, or you can check out YouTube for tons of free classes! Working out on your schedule in the comfort of your own home? It could not be simpler!

 

Be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any new diet or exercise program, but remember that it is possible to keep working on your fitness goals while safely staying home!
